Helping run LWL

LWL runs on volunteer power – getting involved is a great way to keep our sport going.

We need help to make LWL happen. Riders can only attempt the 407km to Wales and back because people have checked the route, poured cups of tea and been there when spirits are flagging.

Pulling a shift on LWL makesits possible for people to discover what they can really achieve when a whole community is backing them.

Could you help us:

  • Check the route through March and April next year?
  • Help oversee the sleep over at Chalfont the night before LWL?
  • Be on hand at the start in Chalfont in the early morning -running the kitchen, marshalling the car park, issuing brevet cards or giving that vital bit of encouragement needed by a newbie?
  • Check riders in at the first Control in Oxfordshire for a couple of hours in the morning on 4 May?
  • Support the Chepstow Control in the middle of the day/early evening?
  • Be the friendly face welcoming riders in at the 300km mark in Lambourn from the early evening until the small hours?
  • Welcomingthe triumphant riders back to Chalfont between Midnight and 1000 AM?

No training is needed – just a bit of empathy and a joy in seeing other people do a remarkable thing.
